Roger and Angelique, a scene from Ariost's Orlando Furioso, the story of the legendary vassal Orlando of Emperor Charlemagne and his quest for his beloved Angelique.
The guy, with armor of gold, flies on a hippogrief. This is a fabulous animal, half horse and half eagle. As a descendant of a mare and a griffin, he is depicted as a winged horse with the head and front legs of an eagle. With his spear he fights the sea monster.
The woman to be driven is standing naked chained to a rock in the sea. Because her hips, bellies, torso and breasts are bare, her whole naked body can be seen.
