About "Jasmund on Rügen on the Baltic Sea with chalk cliffs"

About the artwork

Everyone has his or her places of longing, where you have to go again and again. You are really drawn to them. A little piece of your heart stays there.

That's the island of Rügen in the Baltic Sea for me. Chalk cliffs that keep recreating themselves. Changing. Where new things emerge from demolitions. Nature reflects transience.

The Baltic Sea in shades from blue to green. Different every day, enchanting every day. Erratic blocks, chicken gods and donkey wedges. Yes, also fish rolls and Bodden perch. Rain and sun, gladly in alternation. A fresh breeze. A sandy beach and a beach chair. Amber and sea buckthorn. Caspar David Friedrich must have stood here and admired the chalk cliffs and the Baltic Sea. But one thing is clear: it looked very different back then. And when you stand here, it will perhaps look different again. The chalk moves, breaks off, new edges emerge. That's how the coast here always looks new.

What an exciting landscape! What lucky people we are to be able to experience this!
