Tintoretto (1518 - 1594), was a Venetian painter. Tintoretto mainly painted religious frescoes, panels and portraits. His early work was created under the influence of Parmigianino and Michelangelo. In the later paintings, the colours are drab and pale. Light became an important element to enhance the drama and he made designs in wax, which he experimented with by lighting them in different ways.
