This greenish map of Italy is a map drawn in pencil that was then painted in watercolour. The provincial borders are visible in the map as light pencil lines.

Italy is one of my favourite holiday destinations. In 2008, I discovered Tuscany with its beautiful landscapes and cities like Florence, Pisa, San Gimignano, Luca and Siena.
And in 2010, I visited Venice and discovered Lake Garda with beautiful towns like Sirmione, Monica del Gard, Limone sul Garda and a trip to Verona.
The artwork was painted in watercolour using both the wet-on-dry and wet-on-wet technique on a 300gsm watercolour paper.
Painting this card was done expressionistically. However, I did take into account the use of colour in the coastlines and inland.
The coastline has been given an azure blue colour and the interior a mix of yellow, green and brown tones.
