At first glance, the work shows a tranquil scene: a single island with a tree, surrounded by calm water and embedded in an almost completely white environment. But if you take a closer look, you discover more - delicate reflections on the surface of the water, a barely visible shoreline in the distance, and shadowy silhouettes of other trees lost in the mist. It is these fine details - the blurred transitions, the gentle dissolution of the contours - that hold your gaze for longer than you expect. Everything seems almost weightless, as if left behind from a dream.
I was consciously looking for peace and quiet and time alone with myself when I took this picture and also simply space to refine my technique directly with the camera.
I wanted to create an atmosphere that decelerates - a break in the flow of everyday life. The work radiates a cool but not cold calm. It feels like a deep breath that briefly blocks out everything superfluous. The viewer can linger, dream or simply be.
For me, this picture symbolises loneliness - but not in a negative sense. It is a loneliness that protects, that allows us to feel ourselves again. The emptiness in the upper half of the picture is not a lack, but space. Space for thoughts, memories, wishes. Perhaps it is also a place of healing - a place that asks no questions and demands no answers.
This work was created through a combination of photography and multiple exposures with the camera directly. I deliberately worked with overexposure to dissolve the edges of reality. The colours were reduced almost to the limits of what is visible. This creates an almost surreal lighting mood. Technically speaking, it is a fusion of reality and perception.
This picture acts like a silent anchor in a room. It can be ideally integrated into minimalist, Scandinavian or nature-loving interiors.
