Intimate portrait of a pregnant gorilla.

She looked at me penetratingly, as if she wanted to say something. I did not know what to make of it. I do know that she sat down quietly and gave me the opportunity to capture this beautiful image.

It was a special moment. It also seems that animals (and people) become calmer and more approachable when they are pregnant.

The result is a penetrating portrait that grabs you and makes you stop for a moment. Black and white was deliberately chosen to bring out the expression in the face.

It is a special portrait of a special moment that you will not easily meet.
