The Indian crested eagle is a bird of prey in the hawk family that occurs across much of Asia from India to the Philippines.
I photographed this bird in Sri Lanka.
Measuring 70 cm long, it is a medium-sized bird of prey with broad rounded wings and relatively long also rounded tail. As the English name says (Changeable Hawk-eagle), the plumage of this crested eagle is highly variable. In Borneo, the majority of birds (about 60%) are entirely dark brown in colour (dark phase). The light phase is brown above white below. Immature birds are then completely white underneath, adult birds have a vertical stripe on the breast.
Dear reader,
A friend asked me a few years ago: will you join a photography course. I never expected to enjoy it so much. So I would like to share with you my photos that I think have the "wow" factor.
Greetings Monique
