Atmospheric landscape painting in earthy colours. Brown, and red dominate the palette. Made with oil paint and a little ColdWax Medium on linen.
The calm sky lets all the attention go to the figuration in the landscape, but adds to the tranquillity and atmosphere through the subtle colour gradient.
In all my paintings, I use perspective in a playful way; rarely standard, more often flat, multi, birdseye and usually combined.
My aim is to compose a painting by combining all possible landscape elements into a non-existent whole, but which is still very logical and understandable.
The landscape elements are almost no longer figurative; in this painting, structures, rhythms, shapes and lines suggest a landscape, with recognisable trees on the horizon.
