Some varieties have globular flowers, while others have plume-shaped or umbel-shaped flowers.

The hydrangea also has a spiritual significance. The plant symbolises **love, gratitude, grace and abundance**. The colour of the flowers can also convey a message. For example, pink hydrangea means **sincere love**, blue hydrangea means **forgiveness and understanding**, white hydrangea means **purity and innocence** and purple hydrangea means **wealth and longing**. This is why hydrangeas are often given as gifts or consolations to people we appreciate or who are struggling.
