This work shows a beautiful heath landscape in full bloom, captured in the soft glow of the setting sun. The purple carpet of flowering heather extends to the horizon, forming a harmonious contrast with the warm colours of the sky. Among this sea of purple hues, ancient boulders appear, carefully piled into a dolmen. In the background, a lone tree towers elegantly above the field, adding an extra dimension to the scene. Small details, such as the subtle colour gradient in the sky and the fine shades of the heather blossom, give this work a layeredness that only comes into its own after longer viewing.
The inspiration for this work lies in the nature of Drenthe, a place where history and landscape merge. The idea arose during a walk at sunset, when the moors were in full bloom. The combination of natural beauty and cultural heritage touched me: a landscape that has been telling stories for thousands of years.
The atmosphere I create here is soothing and timeless. This work exudes calm and invites you to contemplate the beauty of simplicity. The message is one of connection: with nature, with the past and with the present moment.
When creating the work, we consciously worked with light and timing to capture the colours as purely as possible. This makes the work powerful and authentic.
In an interior, this work brings warmth and a sense of harmony. It appeals to lovers who love nature, history and a serene look.
