On the left Wienzeile
My last article was about the Wien River, which was enclosed from the Rüdigerhof and on which the Naschmarkt stands today. Otto Wagner was commissioned to build this enclosure and wanted to enclose the entire length of the Wien River and construct a magnificent boulevard. Due to a lack of funds, this was not possible. Nevertheless, if you don't walk through the Naschmarkt, where you are distracted by the variety of offers and the small temptations of the traders, but look to the side at the houses between Rüdiger Hof and Karlsplatz, then perhaps part of Otto Wagner's vision has been realised. Two of them were built by Otto Wagner himself, the Majolika House and the Golden House. I have heard that both can be visited. I've pictured what I consider to be the most beautiful houses on the left-hand side of Wienzeile. So these pictures are my favourite houses on the left Wienzeile.
