I took this photo in Quarry Bay, Hong Kong. For work I was allowed to go this way and in advance I had marked a number of locations to photograph including this building complex, known from the Transformers film "Age of Extinction"
Armed with tripod, camera and an ultra-wide 12mm lens, I headed in this direction. I had been here in previous years but when a location is good, I like to come back and try to make something "better" out of it.
Standing here in the courtyard, it looks a bit desolate and during the day it is not that special either. But. at night, when the lights come on and you look up through a full-frame camera and a 12mm wide-angle lens, this building really comes alive. In terms of composition, you have 2 good options. Either take it standard rectangular as you usually see, or as I did here, diagonal which is my preference.
But just pressing the button isn't enough, I will work on that at home. Because at home I process 99% of my photos because I have a large screen, a fast desktop and a Wacom drawing tablet and several software packages to quietly edit my photos and make them suitable for my shop here at work on the wall.
