About ‘Honfleur - the old harbour’ by Esther Maria

Honfleur by day, the old little port.

It is lovely to stroll through picturesque streets here, past centuries-old houses and around the atmospheric old port. Honfleur has weathered the centuries well, which is why much beauty has been preserved here. Honfleur is not one of the most visited cities in France for nothing. The town is internationally renowned for many reasons: the charm of its narrow cobbled streets, the beautiful facades of the old houses, the atmospheric shops, the numerous cosy hotels and characteristic restaurants, as well as the many monuments and the wealth of its historical, cultural and artistic heritage. In Honfleur, the atmosphere is warm and cosy, typical of a small town with great allure.

THE CITY OF PAINTERS
Honfleur has a fishing port and a pleasure port. But it is also the city of painters and impressionism. Here, at the mouth of the Seine, the 'beautiful light' inspired artists such as Courbet, Monet, Boudin and others. Even today, you can admire works by classical and contemporary artists in the numerous art galleries and studios.

REAL ENJOYMENT
Stroll through the many cosy alleys, discover the monuments, museums and traditional markets, take a boat trip on the Seine estuary, go to a concert or exhibition at the Greniers à Sel, enjoy the local cuisine in one of the many restaurants or have an ice cream on a sunny terrace...
