About "Hinged decay"

About the artwork

This work focuses on the tension between structure and decay. While exploring an abandoned industrial site, I became fascinated by how layers of material together formed a visual language: a whisper of texture, a dialogue between what remained and what disappeared.

I wanted to capture what cannot be captured in words - the charged silence of a surface that does not reveal its history, but makes it tangible. The rhythmic patterns, punctuated by fractures and discolourations, form an abstract landscape of time and transformation.

The atmosphere is contemplative, even introspective. The work aligns with material abstraction and informal art, with echoes of the work of Cy Twombly and Pierre Soulages, where texture and matter carry meaning without narrative.

What makes this work special as wall art is the way it continues to resonate. It offers no explanation, but space - for projection, for quiet, for imagination. It is not loud, and all the more powerful for that very reason.

A work that does not reveal itself immediately, but slowly reveals its layers. A work of art that grows with its surroundings - and with the gaze of those who view it.
