The world-famous painting "Girl with the Pearl Earring" was created around 1665-1667 by Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer (1632-1675).
In this version, the girl is combined with the still life "Flowers in a Wan-Li vase and shells" by Dutch painter Balthasar van der Ast (1593-1657).
In 1632, the birth year of Delft native Johannes Vermeer, Balthasar van der Ast moved to Delft. Whether Vermeer of der Ast ever met, I do not know but in any case, I was able to combine their craftsmanship in this work of art.
I did so with a lot of love, attention and respect.
I changed the background of the still life to a black colour and I adjusted the colours of the girl's clothes accordingly.
The stylists at Art Heroes call my art style ‘Art with a Wink’. And I couldn't agree more. Life is serious enough as it is, don't you think? ;-)
