This hand-painted watercolour painting shows a landscape along the Westerwodsche Aa in the Province of Groningen.
The painting shows a green meadow with tall grass, trees and a small farm. The watercolour technique creates smooth transitions between different shades of green - from fresh grass-green hues to a summer cloudy sky.
This composition was repainted from my own photo image that I photographed on location.
The Westerwoldse Aa is a river in Westerwolde and the Oldambt. The river is formed from the small rivers Mussel Aa and Ruiten Aa. The stream continues towards the Dollard.
The painting is painted in warm, reddish-brown tones, with an orange tiled roof standing out against the greenery. Surrounding the farm are a row of trees with light green leaves.
The horizon is low and wide, typical of Groningen, giving prominence to the meadows, trees and sky.
In the foreground you can see some shaggy tufts of grass and in the middle the water of the Westerwoldsche Aa.
