Those were the days! When gymnastics for boys was very ordinary. The outfit wasn’t that important then: just a short or long pants, and a simple shirt. Look at them, hanging there. It's an achievement in itself, and then you also have to keep still much longer for the photographer. Would the teacher have demonstrated the exercises in these clothes? Or did he put on a nice suit especially for the photo? Also note the details in the background: the woodwork and the shape of the windows, which emphasizes beautifully the symmetry of the group of boys. The photographer thought about the composition very well. A beautiful view in time. And those lithe boys can hang out on your wall if you like. (Collection Timeview, Sports, Hanging around 1924)
