Guardians of the Plains — Masai Giraffe, Serengeti

by ErwinFloor-Photography

This black-and-white fine art print depicts a Masai giraffe gazing vigilantly across the plains of the Serengeti in Tanzania. In the background, an ancient baobab tree towers overhead, with a young giraffe sheltering in its shade. The threatening clouds above the landscape heighten the drama of the image and create a stark contrast with the fine texture of the giraffe’s coat.

This photograph was taken during a safari through the Serengeti and forms part of my wildlife photography collection. The black-and-white processing emphasises the form, texture and structure of the landscape: the rough bark of the baobab, the graphic pattern of the giraffe’s coat and the cloud formations are given extra depth and expressiveness as a result.

This print is a timeless addition to any interior with a natural, tranquil feel — suitable for a living room, office or hotel lobby where you want to make a statement without using bright colours. The vertical composition lends itself well to a prominent position on the wall, either on its own or as part of a series of nature photographs. Each print is produced in a limited edition and carefully printed on archival-quality paper.
