Grove Gmk 5150 L mobile crane from Verschoor.
A 5-axis mobile telescopic crane from Grove capable of lifting up to 150 tons.
I took this picture on 22 April 2022 at Landtong Rozenburg.
Grove was founded in 1947 and has factories in Pennsylvania in the USA and Wilhelmshaven in Germany. Grove originated in the US and was founded by brothers Dwight L. Grove, John L. Grove and associate Wayne A. Nicarry. Their first products were farm wagons. To produce these wagons, steel had to be lifted at the factory and they developed a crane for this purpose. Very soon there was customer interest in this crane.
In 1967 the crane factory had more than 1,000 employees. In the same year the company was sold to the Walter Kidde Company. John L. Grove, however, could not sit still and together with Paul Shockey started a company that made personal elevating platforms. This company still exists today under the name JLG (John L. Grove).
In 1995 Grove bought the cranes division of Krupp and got a factory in Wilhelmshaven.
Since 2002 Grove belongs to the Manitowoc group.
