About ‘Group portrait of the regents of the St. Elisabeths or Groote Gasthuis in Haarlem, Johannes Corn’

Group portrait of the regents of the St Elisabeths or Groote Gasthuis in Haarlem, Johannes Cornelisz. Verspronck The St Elisabeths Gasthuis was the oldest hospital in Haarlem. From the beginning of the 17th century until 1971, this hospital was located on the corner of the Gast-huisvest and the Groot Heiligland (opposite the Frans Hals Museum). The regents of the Elisabeths Gasthuis had their portraits taken by Johannes Verspronck in 1641. It was his first large group portrait. Frans Hals made the portrait of the regents. In Verspronck's painting, a bed in the infirmary is visible through the open door on the right. The tablecloth was originally blue. Original size: 210x150
