When hiking in the Sierra del Castell de la Solana, I like the special shapes of the rocks. They bear the marks of time and at the same time symbolise the pure beauty of nature. The rock formation of the Castell d'Aixa forms the highest part of the mountain range. In the past, there was a watchtower on this peak. It was part of a regional surveillance system. Stone walls bear witness to the historic fortifications. Today, the mountain is a popular destination for hikers. Due to its exposed location, you can enjoy a marvellous panoramic view of the vast mountain landscape from the summit. But there are also beautiful views from a distance. This photo was inspired by the striking shape of the mountain.
On long hikes in the south-east of Spain, I am inspired by the views of the beautiful mountain landscape, but also by the rock formations and regional history. When I am in the mountains and look at the rocks, I think about the meaning of time. Over years, millennia, millions of years, the mountains have been shaped by the forces of Mother Nature. In my opinion, mountain landscapes symbolise the pure beauty of nature that existed long before man - and hopefully will continue to exist for a very long time. This photo of Castell d'Aixa is destined to bring some of the magic of the Spanish mountains into your home.
