Tortuguero National Park is a true paradise for birdwatchers, and one of the most intriguing appearances along the waterfront is the Green Heron. This medium-sized heron is notable for its compact stature, dark head and back, and its green sheen that stands out especially beautifully in sunlight. It often sits motionless on a branch or stone along a canal, completely concentrated on the surface of the water. With a quick and precise movement, it will shoot in to catch a fish or frog - a paragon of patience and efficiency.
This photo collection captures the Green Heron in its natural habitat: waiting in silence, hunting with concentration or balancing elegantly above the water. Its colours contrast beautifully with the lush green of the jungle and the mirrored waters of Tortuguero.
The Green Heron symbolises the quiet, thoughtful side of the rainforest - a place where not only the grand but also the subtle reveals its true beauty. With these images, I want to take the viewer into the serene moments that make Tortuguero so unique.
