Grape vines in the countryside

by Christian Ovís

‘Vines in the Countryside’ depicts a sun-drenched landscape with long rows of vines leading towards a light-coloured country house. A narrow path runs between the vines across reddish-brown earth. The house has warm orange-red roofs and stands amongst tall, slender trees and dense greenery. In the distance, gentle hills lie beneath a pale, yellow-grey sky.

The composition draws the eye from the foreground towards the house. The parallel rows become progressively narrower, lending depth to the landscape. On the left, a canopy of leaves hangs over the vineyard, whilst dark vertical tree silhouettes frame the lighter buildings. Yellow-green leaves glow in the warm light. Loose, visible brushstrokes give the painting an Impressionist feel, with a contrast between sunlit areas and cool shade.

This vineyard landscape is ideal as wall art in a living room, dining room or kitchen featuring warm, natural tones. Green and ochre complement wood, whilst the reddish-brown earth provides a soft terracotta accent. The recognisable countryside scene would suit an interior with a rustic or Mediterranean feel. From a distance, the rows of vines and the house stand out; up close, the individual vines, leaves and small highlights become visible.
