A giraffe spreads its legs awkwardly at a waterhole and bends its long neck to take a sip. The scene captures the unique, delicate balance of the drinking giraffe in closeup against a blurred, natural background. I photographed this scene from a water-level hide in northern Namibia. The low angle perfectly captures the peculiar posture the giraffe must adopt to drink.
