The Korenlei and the key opposite - the Graslei - in the historic heart of Ghent once formed the busy medieval harbour. Boats have been moored here since the 11th century. Still today you can embark here for an idyllic boat or canoe trip on the canals of Ghent.
Reflecting in the river are the beautiful facades of the once wealthy guilds. These houses with their typical stepped gables breathe history: the Spijker, the Cooremetershuys where corn was traded, the impeccably restored gable of the Gildehuis van de Vrije Schippers, ... There is so much to see.
When the sun is shining, this is a delightful spot to hang out, popular both with locals and visitors.
Sit on the quai or on a terrace and enjoy an aperitif.
