The artwork shows the statue of Germania, an allegorical figure that is anchored in the Berlin cityscape as a symbol of national identity and state order. The figure is depicted in classical garb, standing upright, with one foot on a reclining animal - presumably a lion, symbolising strength and protection. The scene is surrounded by dense, green vegetation, which lends the depiction a calm, almost shielded effect.
The inspiration for this work was the examination of historical symbolic figures in public spaces. Germania stands for an idealised idea of nationhood, often associated with concepts such as unity, strength and sovereignty. I was particularly interested in how this symbolism works today - embedded in nature, detached from the original political context.
With this picture, I wanted to create an atmosphere of reflection. It invites you to think about the meaning of national allegories - not as a political statement, but as a cultural testimony to past eras.
In interior design, this work acts as a historically charged accent. It is particularly suitable for rooms with cultural or intellectual aspirations and brings a combination of classical formal language, nature and history into modern contexts - calm, present and multi-layered.
