This image is made of a single, deformed self-replicating heptadiamond, a supertile of 7 diamonds. At each of the six iterations the diamonds grow by a factor of seven. All shapes with a lower number of iterations remain visible during the iteration process. The heptadiamonds are not all connected, and a heptadiamond "lake" appears in the third iteration. The fourth iteration almost contains a lake with the shape of iteration 2. This is almost because the third iteration is connected to the second iteration. The fifth iteration contains lakes with the shapes of iteration 2, 3, and 4. The sixth iteration has many heptadiamond islands on the north side, and many heptadiamond lakes on the south side.
The middle diamond of a heptadiamond is considered the parent and therefore has a different color according to the rainbow color scheme: the oldest diamond is violet and the youngest one is red.
Moreover, the fractal image appears to be shaped like a witch on a broomstick with a large wart on her nose.
My training as a mathematician and my experience as a software programmer are the basic elements for designing my works of art. Since my retirement in 2019 I have started creating digital art with a mathematical slant. The works of M.C. Escher are a source of inspiration. Thanks to programs.. Read more…
