A still life in black and white. This still life was created last summer. Screen flowers combined with field flowers, in colour it was already very beautiful, in black it gives just that little bit more.
It becomes somewhat mysterious, somewhat unrealistic, I think. The flowers are against a grey mixed background, which also makes the background not static and stiff. It seems to move, to have depth difference. The flowers are captured at their most beautiful.
The original blue and yellow of the flowers have been replaced by shades of grey, black and white.
The choice of black and white makes the picture calmer and less contrasty. Now the flowers stand out because of their unnatural colours. The eye is drawn to the photo by the almost surreal effect of the colour use.
