On a clear morning, with the mist still gently hovering over Lugu Mountain Lake, two Chinese fishermen, Jian and Chen, paddled in their wooden boat. The water was calm and mirrored the surrounding green hills and distant, mountain peaks.
Jian, an old fisherman with a face full of stories, looked at the rising sun and said: "Chen, do you remember the legend of the dragon who lives in this lake?" Chen, a young apprentice, nodded as he cast his net.
According to the legend, a dragon protected the lake and its inhabitants. Fishermen who showed respect and cared for the lake were rewarded with an abundant catch, while those who did not returned home with empty nets.
As they hauled in their nets, filled with glistening fish, they felt a sudden tug. A golden scale slipped out of the net and fell into the water, where it left a soft glow. Jian laughed. "You see, the dragon still watches over us."
Chen looked at the water in awe, realising that the legends might hold more truth than he had ever imagined. With renewed respect for the lake and its mythical protector, they paddled back to the shore, ready to share their story.
