A calm frontal gaze meets the viewer with a clear bindi while small butterflies hover like bright messengers around the hairline. Saffron rose and teal drift across the cheeks and temples, echoing festival powder, yet the features stay clean and readable. Faint speckles float near the face adding movement without stealing focus.
I built this work to balance serenity and celebration. Sketches explored how the butterflies could frame the expression so they feel like a light crown rather than decoration. The intention is a feeling of renewal and quiet strength, the stillness of a centered look set against color that suggests dance music and community.
Layered washes shape nose lips and brow with selective glazing to deepen the irises and refine the bindi. Lifted highlights and light dry touches define hair edges and wing rims. The open background preserves generous negative space so the silhouette prints crisp at large size and sits elegantly in living rooms bedrooms and creative studios.
