About the artwork
This work depicts a portrait of a woman.
The autumn colours with fresh green, provide contrast and warmth, her necklace gives a nice detail as do her lips. The colours create a calm artwork, which grabs you. This is mainly because of the look in and around her eyes. She will give your space something unique, because for me, as the maker, that is what makes this work expressive. A woman at peace but with strength and some vulnerability.
This work is composed of several layers and printed per layer, which is also visible and makes her jumper, for example, more lively. In her hair too, you can see that the base is burgundy red with a red/orange layer over it. This creates by depth, playfulness and individuality.
The layers are removed with a gouge, you always remove what should not be visible on the next layer. This way of printing gives a sleek and playful character to the works.
