Feather sculpture in black and mother-of-pearl

by TheXclusive Art

This black-and-mother-of-pearl feather sculpture depicts a long, graceful feather running diagonally across the piece, pointing downwards with a delicately tapering tip. The left-hand half is matt black with fine, curved stripes, whilst the right-hand half shimmers in mother-of-pearl and ivory with soft pink and silver iridescence. A clear dividing line runs between the two sides, making the contrast between dark and light immediately striking. The fine barbs of the feather are visible in great detail and lend the sculpture a serene, almost sculpted depth. In the background lies a smooth, dark-grey gradient in slate tones, with a soft shadow beneath the feather that makes it appear to float.

The contrast between deep black and glossy pearly white gives the design a calm, elegant appearance, whilst the soft sheen on the mother-of-pearl adds a subtle, luxurious finish.

Since ancient times, feathers have symbolised lightness, freedom and storytelling, and this two-tone feather combines that symbolism with a modern, almost graphic design in which day and night converge. Hanging on the wall of a modern living room, bedroom or workspace, this piece brings atmosphere and balance, and is available in various materials and sizes to suit any wall.
