Twisted beech trees in the famous Dutch forest Speulderbos being backlit by sun beams. The last autumn leaves are still hanging onto the lower branches which combined with the warm winter light adds to an inviting woodland atmosphere. I captured this scene whilst teaching a workshop in quickly changing conditions around noon. The balancing act in this image really caught my attention and the backlit trees stand out like silhouettes in front of the magical light. I also really like the autumn leaves which create horizontal lines as if they are perfectly balanced even though the scene looks unstable.
