About ‘Evening light at Bastion Oranje | ’s-Hertogenbosch’ by Dennis Das

On the edge of the historic city centre of ’s-Hertogenbosch lies Bastion Oranje, overlooking the Singelgracht and the green Bossche Broek. In this photograph, the warm evening light creates an atmospheric view of the water and the surrounding greenery.

It is a place where different aspects of Den Bosch come together beautifully. On one side lies the historic city centre and Bastion Oranje; on the other, the vast natural expanse of the Bossche Broek. The Singelgracht forms the natural transition between the two.

It is particularly in the evening that this spot takes on a completely different atmosphere. The warm light reflects off the water, lending the surroundings a peaceful atmosphere, whilst the city lies literally a stone’s throw away.

To me, this photo perfectly illustrates why ’s-Hertogenbosch has so many beautiful spots to photograph: history, water and nature lie almost side by side here.

An atmospheric slice of Den Bosch to hang on the wall, perfect for a living room, study or office, and of course for anyone who has a special connection with the city.
