Ernst Ludwig Kirchner (Aschaffenburg, 6 May 1880 - Davos, 15 June 1938) is the most important representative of German expressionism and is seen by many as the foreman of Die Brücke (the Bridge), an artist collective that was active from 1905 to 1913 and later fell apart.
