The 4th mill or pit mill of the Aarlanderveen mill quadrangle is located about 1 km southwest of Aarlanderveen. The mill pumps De Put, the lowest part of the reclaimed polder on the west side of Aarlanderveen and grinds the water in the higher part of the polder, the upper block. Next to the mill is a small, working mill with scoop wheel.
The current mill was built in 1801 to drain the lowest part of the polder, where peat extraction had created a large peat lake after the polder was drained. The well of the polder lies at - 4.7 m NAP and the highest part of the polder, the upper block, at - 1.2 m NAP. This polder is 125 ha in size.
