Dutch canal-side houses in an expressive painting style, situated on the waterfront by STUDIO ARTSY

Bring the atmosphere of the historic city centre into your home with this colourful artwork. The piece depicts a characteristic row of canal-side houses, rendered in a bold, expressive painting style. The emphasis in this design lies on the visible, layered brushstrokes, reminiscent of a traditional palette knife technique, rendered in clear, unadorned terms without unnecessary exaggeration. This lends the cityscape a visually tangible texture and a contemporary dynamism. The warm ochre-yellow, rust-brown and deep-blue hues of the historic façades – including buildings bearing inscriptions such as ‘ 'Koninklijke Harmonie' ’ – capture the light in an atmospheric way. The tranquil reflection of the architecture and the bobbing boats in the dark canal water creates a balanced contrast and a sense of spatial depth.

This artwork is an original design created entirely using digital techniques. By combining the recognisable Dutch theme with a modern colour palette, this piece makes a versatile addition to your interior. To give you, the buyer, a clear idea of the atmosphere it creates: in a sleek and modern interior, it serves as a warm eye-catcher. Within an industrial interior style, the visual texture enhances the robust character of the space. This cityscape also comes into its own in a more classic or rustic décor and blends seamlessly with a variety of interior styles.
