In 1953 the house was badly damaged and was in danger of being lost. However, the then VVV (Terschelling Vooruit) thought it still had a function (as a hiding place) and the VVV became the owner for 1 guilder. In winter you can visit it by beach taxi, beach bus, fatbike, covered wagon, 4x4 or just walking. In the latter case, don't forget that you also have to go back!
