This piece is very close to my heart. I painted it as a tribute to those quiet, formative moments in childhood where imagination runs wild and the outside world fades away.
There’s something magical about how children lose themselves in books, how they can travel to faraway lands or live a thousand lives from the safety of their favorite reading spot. I wanted to capture that purity, that deep focus and joy that comes when a child truly connects with a story.
The background—soft, dreamlike hues of pink and lavender—represents the world she’s building in her mind, a gentle transition between reality and imagination. The bright colors of the stacked books symbolize the diversity of stories she’s already explored or has yet to discover.
Painting this was a reminder for me to protect my own inner child, to slow down, and to honor the creative spark that stories ignite in all of us. I hope it speaks to that part in you as well."
