This photo was taken at an abandoned industrial site. I chose the scales in the photo as my focal point.
Many people don't know what an aperture is. To explain it easily has to do with where you want to put the focus in the photo, and how much depth of field was used. In this case, if number f1.4 means that the motion blur is very large in most parts of the photo. So the area on the same line as the old scale got all the focus in this case.
I decided to take the photo in a black and white version, as I found some of the surrounding colours (windows) detracted from the beautiful weathered environment.
The matte finish totally suited the complete and minimalist image.
Looking at the finished image makes me want to look at more of these scales. You use a scale all your life, in weighing emotions and situations. These scales bring me peace, and so I hope you too view this through my glasses.
The work can certainly be hung in a colourful environment, but it will also look great in a minimalist or modern interior!
