About "Disintegration of reality"

About the artwork

In this picture, the fragmentation of identity is masterfully depicted through the visual fragmentation of the face. The figure appears split in on itself, as if parts of its being are breaking apart through the vertical lines. Her half-closed eyes, emphasised in deep black, convey an inner sadness and melancholy. Her lips, bright red in colour, seem to be the only thing that is still alive in this broken world.

A vast, green landscape stretches out in the background, contrasting with the gloomy symbolism of the face. A single, smaller person in the lower part of the picture hints at the gap between the inner turmoil and the vast, untouched outside world. There is a feeling that the figure is trapped, not only in its own inner turmoil, but also in the vastness of the surrounding space.

The depth of the work lies in the combination of broken individuality and loneliness in the midst of seemingly untouched nature. The figure could symbolise the loss of self-confidence and identity, while the surrounding landscape silently preserves its innocence without reflecting the figure's inner conflicts. The dynamics of the picture draw the viewer deep into the turmoil.
