About "Dickpic; Selfie of an Ego"

About the artwork

This work holds up a confrontational mirror to us: a figure taking a selfie, but his head has been replaced by a phallic, grotesquely enlarged caricature of himself. In doing so, it denounces narcissism in a raw, symbolic way. The red background reinforces the urgency and awkwardness of the image - it feels warm, loud and intrusive, just like the behaviour it depicts.

The shape distortion works as a visual metaphor: when someone becomes completely immersed in themselves, identity fades into an exaggerated symbol of ego. The phone acts as stage, altar and amplifier. The small flower on the figure's clothes is the only soft element in the image - an almost sarcastic hint at authenticity overshadowed by self-glorification.

The work asks questions about our times: How much space does ego occupy? Where does self-expression end and self-obsession begin? And how do we watch - expectantly, uneasily or critically?

A powerful and provocative piece designed not to please, but to excite.

What are the delivery times?

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
