On a beautiful September evening, I was waiting for the ferry to take me to the centre of Deventer. I then took this night photograph of the ferry, the Ijsselkade, and prominently in view the Deventer Tower of the Grote Kerk, or Lebuinuskerk. The photo's long shutter speed makes the water appear almost smooth and the lights reflect beautifully in the water. Due to the aperture used, the lights of the ferry become little stars. The evening light gives this photo a predominantly blue colour. This moment is also known as the blue hour. The river IJssel flows through the Hanseatic city of Deventer. This photo is a wonderful reminder of this historic city and a great addition to any wall or office space.
