Adenium is a genus of the periwinkle family. The species occur in Africa and the Arabian Peninsula. A well-known species is the desert rose.
Adenium obesum is grown as a houseplant in temperate regions. Numerous hybrids have been developed. Adeniums are valued for their colorful flowers, but also for their unusual, thick audices. They can be grown in a pot for many years and are often used for bonsai.
