Meet my painting 'Der Blauwe Reiter'! (The Blue Rider). This unique artwork evokes the impression of a rider on horseback, making it not only visually appealing but also a playful pun. The title is inspired by 'Der Blauwe Reiter, an art movement known for their bold use of colour. They were painting blue horses as early as 1911. I was truly amazed when I first saw that!
This abstract painting, in the colours: blue, orange, pink, yellow and green, is part of a series. I like series because it keeps me in the same creative flow. It is a monotype, a one-off print. This makes each print unique, it cannot be repeated. During this creative process, I am guided by the elements already present and my feelings. Here in the print, I have continued to work with pastel chalk and India ink. Only when the work is finished do I give it a name. In this case, 'Der Blauwe Reiter'.
This sturdy artwork offers room for interpretation; you can see something different in it or just enjoy its form and colour. That is the charm of abstract art: the ability to keep fantasising and create your own story.
Nb. 'Der Blauwe Reiter' is now also available in an elegant rectangular and stylish standing format!
