A sleeping deer in the Amsterdam Water Supply Dunes
An adult male deer is known as a stag. In roe deer, the male is called a buck and the female a goat. In fallow deer and red deer, the female is called a doe. The young are called calves, as in cows, and are born with white spots and drink milk from their mother.
