Deep is a pastel crayon drawing I made in 2015 on a large format paper (250x140 cm)
Pastel chalk is wonderful material to work with because you can smudge in it and use it to blend colours or soften lines/shapes and create beautiful transitions.
The inspiration for this drawing, which was sold to a company in England, is the underwater world. A totally different, fairytale-like, own and self-contained world with its own creatures, plants of all shapes and colours. A world to retreat to from the world above water.
I don't dive myself, but can imagine it must be wonderful. Working in a large format allows me to disappear into it while drawing.
