About ‘Deep red tulip in green pot’ by Susan Hol

The red tulips in the green vase are no longer crisp. The tulips are nearing their end. The red then becomes deeply dark. A somewhat darker image suits this. Making it lighter was possible, but I did not choose that. Next to the vase is the empty shell of an escargot. These snail shells are everywhere on our property around our French house. The background in the photo is a folded sheet of Canson brand watercolor paper. The fold creates a light-shadow distribution. A soft shadow of the vase and tulips can also be seen on the light part. I added an oil paint touch to the overall image, giving it a soft look, similar to the paintings of Dutch masters (f/m).
