'DRIVE INTO OBLIVION' is a melancholic and dreamy artwork about a forgotten place in the desert. Under the soft, almost surreal glow of pastel colours stands an abandoned gas station, protected by time.
A retro pink American car stands still in the empty landscape, its driver also stopped halfway on a journey to nowhere. Above the scene float a few seagulls, their independent obligation the desolation and transience of this place.
The atmosphere of the work is about feelings of nostalgia, freedom and loneliness. The soft lens flare effect and warm tones give the image a timeless, almost polaroid-like look that feels both romantic and desolate.
Perfect for lovers of retro aesthetics, Americana, road trips and the mystery of abandoned places. This artwork is ideal as a statement piece in living rooms, studios or work spaces and speaks to anyone who feels connected to themes of travel, freedom and the search for meaning in empty landscapes.
The artwork is fluid in a layered collage style, where the imagery is a mix of (own) photography, mixed media paintings and digital editing.
