Cubism in the form of spiritual faces by AidasignArt

This panoramic work unfolds as a multi-layered sequence of female faces that merge with one another in the Cubist style, whilst simultaneously breaking away from one another. Depending on the viewing angle, three or four faces come to the fore – a play on perception that actively involves the viewer in the process of the picture’s creation.

Rendered in softly shimmering rainbow colours with a slightly impastoed quality, the figures appear both familiar and ethereal. Their subdued glow lends them a quiet presence that seems to hover between dream and reality. Their wide-open eyes appear alert and focused, as if directing their attention to spaces beyond the visible.

The composition thrives on a subtle dramaturgy of gazes. Whilst the faces at the left edge of the picture turn outwards, creating an impression of distance and movement, the dynamic shifts in the centre of the work. There, a gaze directed straight ahead meets the viewer directly. Observation becomes an encounter; the image opens up to a dialogue and makes the viewer themselves part of its narrative.

A velvety, almost ethereal glow envelops the figures and reinforces the impression of weightlessness and depth. Visibility and mystery, closeness and distance, the present and memory combine to create a quiet field of tension.

The work invites us to become consciously aware of our own gaze and to engage with the ambiguity of identity, perception and inner presence. In its restrained radiance, a poetic space for reflection and contemplation emerges.
